Sources inside the State Republican Party have told political reporter Elizabeth Benjamin of Capital Tonight that Rockland County Executive C. Scott Vanderhoef will seek the State Senate seat in the 38th District. The seat is currently held by long-term incumbent Thomas P. Morahan.

Yesterday, 47 people braved the freezing rain and stood across from State Senator Thomas Morahan’s office in Nanuet to protest his vote against gay marriage. State Senator Thomas P. Morahan emphatically trampled civil rights by voting against the Marriage Equailty bill. The bill did not pass (24-38) and the Republicans voted in lockstep and did not even bother to put up a debate. It's time for Tom Morahan to go!
