I thought it might be nice to share some of my favorite progressive books. Feel free to add your own favorites! I am sure we will have quite a list soon!
Steve W.’s list:
- “Betrayal of Trust: The Collapse of Global Public Health” by Laurie Garrett
- “The Shock Doctrine: The Rise of Disaster Capitalism” by Naomi Klein
- “The Mismeasure of Man” by Stephen J. Gould
- “Nyack in Black and White” by Carl Nordstrom

The news and diaries posted on the Rockland Progressive Dems site are the individual opinions of the members of the Rockland Progressive Democratic Caucus. They appear on this Web site to provide a progressive forum for Rockland County residents. While the Executive Committee of the caucus may edit some of these posts for clarity, length, and accuracy, it does not necessarily endorse the contents of each post. All members of the Rockland County Democratic Caucus are invited to share their viewpoints and comment on those viewpoints on this site.

Good choices, there are several there that I’m embarrassed to say that haven’t read yet. Here’s my list:
1. America: Who Really Pays the Taxes, by Donald L. Bartlett
2. Money and Class in America, by Lewis H. Lapham
3. Gusher of Lies: The Dangerous Delusions of Energy Independence, by Robert Bryce (not necessarily a “progressive” book per se, but one that every progressive should read)
4. The Hammer Comes Down: The Nasty, Brutish, and Shortened Political Life of Tom DeLay, by Lou Dubose and Jan Reid
5. Three Men in a Room: The Inside Story of Power and Betrayal in an American Statehouse, by Seymour P. Lachman and Robert Polner (necessary to understand sordid NY state politics)
